EFT is a very powerful and empowering healing technique. Anyone can learn to use it for themselves and make a lot of progress on their own. Margot says: “I have taught children as young as five to do EFT.” However, there comes a time when you may feel the need to get some guidance from a skilled and experienced EFT practitioner, who can take you through the process and help to identify your ‘blind spots’.
How many sessions will I need? How long is each session? How much time should I leave between sessions?
It is hard to tell in advance how many sessions are needed. According to Margot: “Most of my clients are pleasantly surprised at the speed and gentleness of the treatment. I have helped people out of severe depression in just 5 sessions, neutralised phobias in 20 minutes, taught migraine sufferers how to prevent an attack in just one consultation, and helped smokers quit on the spot.”
Typically, the first session lasts 90 minutes, with subsequent consultations running to an hour, or an hour and a half. Margot recommends booking just one session to see how much progress can be made on the spot before deciding on a future course of treatment.
It is then completely up to the client to decide how much time to leave between sessions. Some people prefer to come once a week for a few weeks, while others book in randomly as the need arises.
What should I do to get ready for my session? Am I likely to feel distressed during or after a session? Do the results last?
No preparation is necessary. We use a number of techniques to ensure that the process is very gentle. You will not need to recall and relive every painful detail of a past experience in order to heal it – in fact this is actively discouraged. You can work within the privacy of your own mind, and details of disturbing memories may only be shared once the emotional charge they carry has dissipated.
Usually, clients feel light-hearted, energized and much more positive after EFT – a sure sign that they have left behind some of their emotional baggage and physical pain. We tackle the root cause of an issue and in most cases problems are dissolved permanently.
Where do sessions take place?
Margot is based in Galway and runs a practice from the Triskel Centre, on the main street in Salthill. Occasionally, she also sees patients in the Dublin area. If you opt not to travel, a phone consultation can be organised.
How much is a session?
A 90 minute consultation ranges between €80 and €90 depending on location. A one hour session is €60 and €65 depending on location.

EFT is eminently suitably for use over the phone. Strange as this may seem, some people even prefer being guided by a disembodied voice and feel they are more relaxed as they tap away themselves at home. Telephone sessions also have the added advantage of saving on travelling costs and time.
At the mention of phone consultations, the initial reaction of many is to assume they couldn’t be as effective as a face-to-face encounter. To ensure your doubts are laid to rest, Margot interrupts the session after 15 minutes to enquire about how you are getting on. If it is not working out – this is rarely the case –the session is terminated, there is no charge, and you can both come to a different arrangement. Meanwhile, if you are satisfied Margot will of course carry on.
Nowadays there are cheap or even free ways to communicate by phone. Margot Diskin has free access to landline calls in Ireland and can ring you.
If you have access to broadband, Skype – an internet phone service that is totally free – is a great option, regardless of where you are in the world. Margot has a webcam, so you will be able to see her on your screen, if you have one too, you will both see each other.

Before the session starts:
